It's Masters week. I could probably just stop there... but I won't.
The Masters tournament is much like the Super Bowl of golf. Some would consider The Masters one of the greatest events we witness each year. I'd even put it up there with the Catalina Wine Mixer and that one-time Bobby Boucher showed up at halftime and the Mud Dogs won the Burbon Bowl.
One of the greatest athletes of all time once said, "Gold Jacket, Green Jacket who gives a shit?". Well with all due respect Mr. Gilmore, I do. There is just something about the birds chirping, the greenest of green grass, azaleas and pine straw that gets me gooooing. I have no problem locking in 24/7 for Masters week. If there's TV coverage, it's on. Sure, I can't hit a golf ball straight and no I can't tell you why breaking 80 is tougher than peeing into the wind and not getting wet. But one thing I can do is turn on the TV and give the game of golf my full attention.
Augusta National Women's Amateur, Drive Chip & Putt, Par 3 contest, The Masters; I am locked in for it all.
Congrats to Rose Zhang on her Augusta National Women's Amateur Championship and all of the youngins that participated in the Drive, Chip, & Putt. Now it's time for the big boys.
Can Scottie Scheffler defend? Can Rory McIlroy complete the career grand slam? LIV vs PGA, can Will Zalatoris do more than another Major runner up? Will Jordan Speith find the Speithian magic again? Or will a new face put on the green jacket, Jon Rahm, JT, Max Homa, Xander Schauffele, Victor Hovland, Jason Day, Cam Smith, Collin Morikawa, Sam Burns, Cam Young.... or will it be the always prowling Tiger Woods? The storylines are endless.
Grab a peach and lock in.
